The donor site at the back will usually be completed covered with your hair grey hairs
and the stitches can be removed at 10-14 days, although they will also self dissolve in 3-4 weeks. The donor site may feel sore or tender for 3-4 days post op. We will provide you with tablets that you can take should you feel any discomfort. The recipient (grafted) area is very unlikely to cause discomfort.
As a matter of fact it will probably feel numb for quite a while before full sensation is restored naturally. This recipient area will show tiny little ‘scabs’, one for each graft, and these may stay with you for 5-10 days. They fall out normally as you wash your scalp from the day after surgery. In those who do not have the hair to disguise this area, the majority seem to prefer to take a week off work.
